While letters and other records point to Baron von Steuben’s homosexuality, these two Baylor’s Boys are my stand-ins for all the anonymous soldiers of the Revolution and throughout history, who were queer at a time when society wouldn’t recognize it. But what if it did, and what if they had the resources to understand, accept and present themselves to a welcoming world. I elevate and celebrate all the Baylor’s Boys on these pedestals of progress.
